Camilla Pickles is a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. Her project title is Obstetric Violence and the Law. She was previously a post-doctoral research fellow at the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights, and International Law where she now serves as a Visiting Research Fellow. Camilla was a research clerk for Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng at the Constitutional Court of South Africa and she was awarded her doctorate by the University of Pretoria which was funded by the German Academic Exchange Service/National Research Fund Joint In-Country Scholarship. Broadly, Camilla’s research and publications focus on providing legal analysis on pregnancy and childbirth related issues and most of her contributions are dedicated to securing meaningful realisation of women’s reproductive rights during pregnancy, childbirth, and abortion.
