Elizabeth George

Elizabeth is a barrister and partner at law firm Leigh Day.  She specialises in employment discrimination and trade union law. Elizabeth has more than 20 years’ experience of successfully litigating on behalf of individuals, groups, charities and trade unions. She has a particular expertise in equal pay law and practice and represented the successful Next store workers who succeeded in their group equal pay action against national retailer, Next, earlier this year. Her individual work includes advising and representing women from almost every sector and level of seniority. Elziabeth worked as a solicitor before transferring to the bar in 2025.  She worked at a law centre and out of chambers before moving to Leigh Day in 2009-2016 as an employed barrister and in-house counsel. She was Head of Employment at Trade Union law firm, Pattinson & Brewer between 2017 – 2019, before re-joining Leigh Day in 2020. She is a contributing author to The Equality Act 2010 (Blackstone’s Guides) (Oxford University Press, 2021).
