Gitanjali Joshua

Gitanjali Joshua is a perennial student, who skips across disciplines. She has formally studied Physics, Anthropology and Sociology. Her doctoral thesis explores the intersection of law, religion, and gender. She highlights messy realities that struggle to fit into the categories of law and the ways they both challenge and reaffirm gendered, caste-specific and religiously inflected norms. She enjoys visual art and writing fiction. One of her stories was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, 2022. She is currently working on her first novel, supported by the 2025 Clarion West Novel Writing Workshop. She somehow manages to find cats to befriend wherever she goes.
