Ishani Mookherjee and Mahek Bhatia

Ishani is pursuing a D.Phil. in Law at the University of Oxford. She is an Oxford-Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholar at the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. Her doctoral research aims to evaluate the present paradigm on disability-selective abortions in India and develop an ‘indigenous’ normative and legal framework for governing such abortion drawing upon the feminist ethics of care and the reproductive justice framework. Mahek is reading for the MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford. She is the Cornelia Sorabji Scholar at the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. She holds a first-class law degree from the University of Warwick and is particularly interested in the intersections of feminist legal theories and criminal justice, with a focus on marital sexual violence in India.
