OxHRH Associate Director Dr Nazila Ghanea Attends Carter Center’s Human Rights Defenders Forum

OxHRH Associate Director, Dr Nazila Ghanea participated in the Carter Center’s Human Rights Defenders Forum from 7-10 February 2015 in Atlanta, USA.

The Forum was attended by around 70 scholars, human rights activists and community leaders from around the world and provided them with a platform to discuss, strategies and address combating violence and discrimination, especially against women and girls, with particular attention to what role faith groups could play in this effort.

Nazila helped steer the two days of closed workshops before the two days of public sessions chaired by US President Jimmy Carter.

Also at the conference was Gaynel Curry, former graduate of the Masters in International Human Rights Law, Gender and Women’s Advisor at the United Nations
