Recruiting for the Oxford Pro Bono Publico Executive Committee

by | Oct 19, 2016

Oxford Pro Bono Publico (OPBP), the Oxford Law Faculty’s award-winning pro bono research organisation, is looking for graduate students with a passion for pro bono law to join the Executive Committee in the 2016-2017 academic year.

OPBP prepares free, high quality, international and comparative law research for lawyers and organisations around the world on important public interest matters. OPBP also manages an internship scheme with permanent and ad hoc placements for its volunteers. Serving on the OPBP Executive Committee presents an incredible opportunity to work at the forefront of public interest law.

Applications are now open for the following positions on the Executive Committee. In your application, you are welcome to indicate that you are applying for a specific position, but if you are not sure which position you would prefer you can leave this open.

1. Chairperson
2. Deputy Chairperson
3. Communications and Website Officer
4. Treasurer
5. Internships Officer

Ideally, candidates should have a background in (public interest) law, although this is not prerequisite. It is advantageous but not mandatory that applicants are currently enrolled in a programme at Oxford’s Law Faculty. Applicants with IT competences will be prioritised for the position of Communications and Website Officer. For more information about each role, please click here.

In addition to their specific responsibilities, each executive member will coordinate one or more research projects over the course of the year.

The new committee will be in office from Michaelmas 2016 to Trinity 2017 (ie the end of the 2016 long vacation). Committee members work an average of 5 to 8 hours each week, including vacation period.

Applications should contain a curriculum vitae and a short statement of interest, including reference to whether you have volunteered for or contributed to OPBP in the past.

Please email your applications to the OPBP Selection Panel at opbp@law.ox.ac.uk.

Applications close at 5pm on Sunday 23 October 2016 . Shortlisted candidates will be informed by Sunday 30 October and should be available for interviews in week 4.

If you would like to find out more, please feel free to email OPBP’s current Chairperson Ivo Gruev (ivo.gruev@law.ox.ac.uk).

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,
Oxford Pro Bono Publico Executive Committee 2015-16
